No-Till Field Day

A field day in Rockingham County March 16 will feature no-till farmer/researcher Steve Groff from Pennsylvania, Ron Morse from VA Tech, local extension agents Eric Bendfeldt and Brian Jones, and NRCS state agronomist Chris Lawrence.  They will highlight no-till methods, soil building principles and showcase local farmers utilizing these alternatives.  The field day will be coupled with some long-term demonstration projects (separate project) and deep-rooted radish seed plantings for bio-tilling to test these methods over time for soil building and economic feasibility. There will be an afternoon farm tour to visit local farms utilizing these methods. This field day is being jointly funded by SARE and Shenandoah RC&D and organized by Virginia Cooperative Extension, NRCS, Shenandoah Valley SWCD and RC&D.
