Farm Transition Management

This pilot, intensive five-week workshop on planning for passing on the family farm was organized by Virginia Cooperative Extension and funded largely by Shenandoah RC&D.  Workshop topics included:  goal and retirement planning; estate management, tax and insurance issues; power of attorney, advance medical directives and wills.  Numerous area farm families participated at two Valley locations (Augusta, Shenandoah Counties).  The goal at the end of these sessions was that a transition management plan should be in place for every farm family participating.
