Farm Transition Mgmt. Workshop – II

In FY06, this pilot, intensive five-week workshop on planning for passing on the family farm was organized by Virginia Cooperative Extension and funded largely by Shenandoah RC&D.  Workshop topics included:  goal and retirement planning; estate management, tax and insurance issues; power of attorney, advance medical directives and wills.  Numerous area farm families participated at two Valley locations (Augusta, Shenandoah Counties).  The goal at the end of these sessions was to put in place a transition management plan for every farm family participating.  This project was so successful last year that additional funds were made available this year (FY07) for additional courses.
