Partnering Request:  2005 Stevens Amendment Act Fire Mitigation Work

This $200,000 project will implement mechanical fuel reduction activities on 265 acres in the New River Highlands and Shenandoah RC&D regions.  The fuel reduction activities will be targeted to high risk communities and individual homes located within three miles of forest service land.  This project will help improve the fire safety of approximately 200 homes across these regions.

Goal:  Conserving open spaces, forestland, and farmland in the Valley; assisting with community development efforts
