FORE IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 25, 2008 New Farmers’ Market to open in Downtown Waynesboro
Plans for developing a new Farmers’ Market in Waynesboro have been in the making for months. A committee of committed volunteers, under the umbrella of Waynesboro Downtown Development, Inc., began meeting in September for the purpose of organizing a market that would support sustainable agriculture and provide a weekly event for downtown. Organizers are now prepared to announce the opening of the market, planned for April 23. The market will be open Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pavilion in Constitution Park.
In addition to providing the community with fresh local produce and a venue for farmers, organizers plan to include entertainment and children’s activities on market days.
The market committee invites inquiries from interested vendors and will provide information packets to those interested.
Market Manager, Heidi Lanford, and committee members will be available for comment at the next market meeting on Thursday, March 27, 2:00 p.m. at WDDI’s office, 301 West Main Street.
