Project Activity
Rural Economic Vitality:
- Worked with committee to draft annual
report goals
- Along with Rick Shiflet, project liaison,
presented MOU/information to the Augusta County Ag Task Force
June 2 on RC&D reimbursable grant. MOU was signed at the
meeting.
- Met with regional agriculture group in
Winchester June 3 at VA Tech Fruit Center to discuss
agricultural outreach activities in the region
Open Space, Forestry, and Farmland Preservation
and Community Development:
- Met with Bob Blair, Volunteer Farm
executive director, and board member, to discuss how RC&D might
assist the farm’s efforts.
- Met with the committee June 6 to draft
annual report goals.
- Hosted Webcast at the Verona Service
Center, co-sponsored with Valley Conservation Council,
"Protecting Water Resources through Land Conservation: Funding
Options for Local Governments."
Water Quality/Quantity:
- Met with the committee June 30 to draft
annual report goals.
Nutrient Management:
- Sent signed contract re: Pyrodiesel
project to Virginia Tech for processing; received invoice.
- Met briefly with Ann Jennings, Dale
Gardner and Steve Tally June 24 to discuss Waste Solutions Forum
follow-up and grant writing for action plan follow up.
Education and Information:
- Worked with Lorraine to keep RC&D website
current.
- Met with committee June 6 to draft annual
report goals.
Grants/Funding
- Took a Foundation Center Class in
Washington, D.C. May 12, “Grantseeking on the Internet.”
NRCS Activities
- Participated in coordinator’s
teleconference June 23

- Attended “RC&D Concepts” class in Denver,

- Drafted FY 2006 Annual Plan; worked on
NRCS/Council MOU
