Mission: The Shenandoah RC&D
Council’s mission is to sponsor and promote projects and
programs that improve the quality of life and
sustainable use of natural resources, primarily in the
Shenandoah River Watershed, by providing volunteer
leadership, technical resources, and financial
assistance.
Changes for RC&D in 2011: Federal
funding for the USDA/NRCS RC&D program was eliminated as of April 15,
2011. While NRCS remains a valuable RC&D partner, the Council has had to move out of its office at the USDA service center in Verona and NRCS staff no longer work with the Council on a day-to-day basis.
Shenandoah RC&D Council is not a government agency. It is a private, 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit
organization. Our Council is in a relatively strong financial position
and has many active projects with multi-year funding in place.
Shenandoah RC&D Council is being housed at the Valley Conservation Council (VCC) offices in Staunton and VCC staff are handling our day-to-day operations. Our mailing address remains PO Box 60, Verona VA 24482. If you have questions for the Council, please contact John Eckman, at Valley Conservation Council, at 540.886.3541.
